Institutional Level Assessment
The Office of Academic Planning and Assessment coordinates administrative planning and manages connections between administrative and academic planning groups. The Associate Provost, Cheryl Beil, serves as GW’s official liaison with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Created in 2010, the Assessment Coordinating Council includes representatives from each of the schools and helps coordinate efforts across the schools. The role of the Council is to:
- Keep the schools and colleges apprised of Middle States expectations for assessment and the timetables associated with meeting these expectations;
- Oversee the implementation of the university’s assessment plan for Middle States;
- Share concerns about, problem solve issues related to, and serve as sounding board for schools and colleges in their assessment efforts; and
- Monitor the assessment of general education to ensure compliance with Middle States standards (for schools and colleges that grant undergraduate degrees).
